Support Thrive

Evidence of the opportunity gap can
be seen in typically developing children
as early as 9 months old

There are about 2,000 days from when a child is born to when she starts kindergarten. Every day matters. From birth, children need to be read and talked to, cuddled and hugged. They need access to medical care and healthy food to eat. They need places to run, jump, pretend and use their creativity. For the 90,000 babies born in Washington state this year, every day of the next five years matters.

At Thrive, we recognize that more must be done to support parents as their child’s first and most important teachers. Together with our partners, we are working to:

  • Expand the highest-quality programs that make the biggest difference
  • Advocate for the policies and programs that reduce the opportunity gap
  • Build the capacity of communities statewide to deliver services that support families.

Over the past decade, Washington state has made incredible progress toward serving children and families, especially those furthest from opportunity. But we are only just beginning.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to strengthen and expand our statewide early learning system. Your support will help us create opportunities for every child in our state to get a great start in school and in life.

Your gift helps us close the opportunity gap that affects far too many children in low-income families and children of color – a gap that starts before a child’s first birthday and all too often persists through to adulthood. Together we can expand awareness for home visiting and increase access to some of the most rural parts of the state as well as educate parents, families and caregivers on the resources available to them in their own community through our 10 early learning regional coalitions.

The return on investment for high-quality early learning is huge! $1 invested = $7 back to society
